Creative Resistance Program at African Burial Ground
The site was too often encountered as static history rather than living memory.
Through film, poetry, and embodied dialogue, African Burial Ground National Monument was reframed as an active site of creative resistance connecting ancestral preservation to contemporary artistic practice. Participants were invited to experience Black history not as past suffering but as ongoing authorship, and civic presence.
